MSI has been in news for quite a long time. Recently, we had reported on the US launch of the MSI Wind laptop. Now, the company has announced the details of the product at Computex 2008.

The 10-inch notebook that comes with a LED-backlit system will be available in both Linux and Windows operating systems. The features of the models are almost similar, apart from the internal memory. The Windows version will ship with 1 GB memory, whereas the Linux version has slightly less memory of 512 MB.

In addition, both the MSI Wind laptops are powered by a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, 80 GB hard drive and have the ability to deliver 5.5 hours of battery life for Windows and 2.5 hours for Linux. They also sport a 1.3-megapixel webcam mounted into the lid, a four-in-one card reader and a magnifying tool to improve the view on the 10-inch screen, which offers a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels.

Both the Winds also pack three USB 2.0 ports, GbE and 802.11b/g wireless connectivity. The Windows version laptop includes a standard Bluetooth.

Available in black, pink and white outer lids, the Windows-based MSI Wind notebook is priced at $499 (approx. Rs. 17,960) and will hit the US shelves by 16th June, while the Linux-based laptop carries a price tag of $399 (approx. Rs. 15,960) and will roll out later in summer.
